Abstract
Električna baterija je naprava koja se sastoji od jednog ili više međusobno povezanih galvanskih članaka. Služi za pretvaranje kemijske energije u električnu. Glavni dijelovi baterije su katoda, anoda i elektrolit. S obzirom na mogućnost ponovnog punjenja baterije se dijele na primarne (nepunjive) i sekundarne (punjive). Napon baterije ovisi o tehnologiji izrade i o veličini baterije. Alkalna AA baterija ima nazivni napon 1,5 V, dok nikal-metal hidrid i nikal-kadmij baterije, istih dimenzija, imaju nazivni napon 1,2 V. Kapacitet baterije, također, ovisi o tehnologiji izrade, dimanzijama baterije, struji pražnjenja, te o temperaturi ćelije. Pražnjenje baterije velikom strujom rezultira smanjenjem kapaciteta baterije. Unutarnji otpor ovisi o dimenzijama i tehnologiji izrade baterije. Unutarnji otpor određuje količinu energije koju baterija može isporučiti u nekom trenutku. Gustoća energije, točnije, specifična energija, izražava se kao omjer količine pohranjene energije u bateriji i mase baterije.
Abstract (english)
An electric battery is a device consisting of one or more galvanic cells connected together. It is used for converting chemical energy into electrical energy. The main parts of the battery are cathode, anode and electrolyte. Considering the possibility of recharging, batteries are classified as primary (non-rechargeable) and secondary (rechargeable) batteries. Battery voltage depends on technology and dimensions of the battery. An alkaline AA type battery has a nominal voltage of 1,5 V, whereas a nickel-metal hydride and nickel-cadmium batteries have a nominal voltage of 1,2 V. Battery capacity also depends on technology, dimensions of the battery, discharge current and the cell temperature. Discharging the battery with high discharge current results in decrease of the battery capacity. Internal resistance depends on dimensions and technology of the battery. Internal resistance determines the amount of energy the battery can deliver at some point. Energy density, or more accurately, specific energy, represents the amount of energy stored in the battery per unit mass.
