Abstract
Još od razvoja prvih satelitskih snimaka znanstvenici su tražili način kako te snimke upotrijebiti u svrhu predviđanja i praćenja prirodnih nepogoda te mogućnosti izbjegavanja istih reagirajući pravovremeno. Mala rezolucija satelitskih snimaka godinama je bila prepreka za uspješno provođenje prethodno spomenutih akcija. Europska svemirska agencija razvila je satelitske misije Sentinel koje omogućavaju uvid u šest glavnih područja primjene: zemlju, more, atmosferu, procjenu klime, sigurnost i upravljanje hitnim intervencijama. Sentinel sateliti predstavljaju veliki napredak u poboljšanju prostorne rezolucije snimaka što dovodi do sve veće znanstvene i edukativne uporabe snimaka Sentinel satelita.
Abstract (english)
Since the development of the first satellite images, scientists have been looking for ways to use these shots to predict and monitor natural disasters, and to avoid them by reacting timely. The low resolution of satellite footage has been an obstacle for years to successfully implement the aforementioned actions. The European Space Agency has developed Sentinel satellite missions to provide insight into six main areas of application: land, sea, atmosphere, climate assessment, security, and emergency response management. Sentinel satellites represent great advances in improving the spatial resolution of images, leading to an ever-increasing scientific and educational use of Sentinel satellite images.
