Abstract
Društveno korisno učenje (tkzv. DKU) jedna je od novijih usvojenih metoda koja se koristi u mnogim znanstvenim disciplinama i akademskim institucijama. DKU označava spajanje akademskog znanja i pomoći zajednici s ključnim značajkama, uključujući i potrebe izražene u zajednici. Prethodne studije pokazale su pozitivne učinke DKU-a na širokom rasponu kognitivnih i afektivnih znanja od kojih mnoge odgovaraju kriterijima Akreditacijskog odbora za inženjering i tehnologiju (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET-a)) (na primjer, one koje se bave interdisciplinarnim timovima, etičkom odgovornošću, utjecajem inženjerstva u globalnom i društvenom kontekstu, i učinkovitom komunikacijom). U istraživanju društveno korisnog učenja u inženjerstvu, naglasak je na razvoju projekata orijentiranih na društveno korisno učenje koji obično rezultiraju radnim prototipom, proizvodom ili inovativnim konceptom tehnoloških potreba određenog partnera u zajednici (tj. prijenosom znanja), a studentima pruža smisleno iskustvo za učenje i promišljanje. Projekti DKU-a mogu se kretati od dizajniranja sustava praćenja okoliša za održavanje muzejskih artefakata u lokalnoj zajednici do dizajniranja sustava obnovljivih izvora energije za ruralnu zajednicu u zemlji u razvoju. Obično se ti projekti razvijaju ili za „Capstone“ ili za uključivanje u druge inženjerske kolegije koji imaju značajan konceptualni sadržaj. Međutim, uz svu nedavnu usredotočenost na DKU u inženjerstvu, relativno se malo pozornosti posvećuje razvoju projekata orijentiranih na društveno korisno učenje.
Abstract (english)
Service learning is one of the more recently adopted methods used in many scientific disciplines and academic institutions. Service learning means combining academic knowledge and helping the community with key features, including needs expressed in the community. Previous studies have shown the positive effects of Service learning on a wide range of cognitive and affective knowledge, many of which meet the criteria of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) (for example, those dealing with interdisciplinary teams). , ethical responsibility, the impact of engineering in a global and social context, and effective communication). In the research of socially useful learning in engineering, the emphasis is on the development of socially useful learning-oriented projects that usually result in a working prototype, product or innovative concept of technological needs of a particular partner in the community (ie knowledge transfer). Service learning projects can range from designing an environmental monitoring system to maintaining museum artifacts in the local community to designing a renewable energy system for the rural community in a developing country. Typically, these projects are developed either for Capstone or for inclusion in other engineering courses that have significant conceptual content. However, with all the recent focus on Service learning in engineering, relatively little attention is paid to the development of socially useful learning-oriented projects.
