Abstract
Ovaj rad daje uvid u čitljivost web sadržaja, posebno utjecaj tipa i generičke obitelji fonta na čitljivost. U tu svrhu kreirana je web aplikacija koja olakšava administratorima izradu prilagođenih anketa i provođenje istraživanja nad vlastitim ispitanicima. Za eksperimentalni dio ovog rada kreirana je anketa s pitanjima kao što su dob, vizualni poremećaji ispitanika te njihovo mišljenje o tome ima li tekst bolju čitljivost kada se čita s papira ili sa zaslona. Eksperiment je proveden s 25 ispitanika raznih dobnih skupina. Od ispitanika se zahtijevalo ispunjavanje ankete, a potom čitanje tekstova i subjektivno ocjenjivanje fontova kojima su oni napisani. Ispitanici su bili obaviješteni da pažljivo čitaju tekstove jer je za vrijeme čitanja uključen brojač. Analiza rezultata je pokazala kako su fontovi generičke obitelji serif najčitljiviji po subjektivnom mišljenju te kako su drugi po vremenu koje je potrebno za čitanje tekstova. Možemo zaključiti kako fontovi iz serif obitelji imaju najveći stupanj čitljivosti u web okruženjima. Također, fontovi generičke obitelji fantasy dobili su najniže ocjene po pitanju subjektivnog mišljenja ispitanika i zauzimaju treće mjesto po vremenu potrebnom za čitanje tekstova napisanih tim fontovima te možemo zaključiti kako oni imaju najmanji stupanj čitljivosti web sadržaja. Važno je napomenuti da ispitanici koji smatraju čitanje sa zaslona čitljivijim u odnosu na čitanje s papira u prosjeku ocjenjuju ukrasne fontove, poput cursive i fantasy stilova, znatno čitljivijima u usporedbi s ispitanicima koji preferiraju čitanje s papira.
Abstract (english)
This paper provides insight into the readability of web content, especially the influence of type and generic family font on readability. For this purpose, a web application was created that makes it easier for administrators to create customized surveys and conduct research on their participants. For the experimental part of this work, a survey was created with questions such as age, visual disorders of the participants, and their opinions on whether the text has better readability when read from paper or a screen. The experiment was conducted with 25 participants of various age groups. Participants were required to fill out a survey, and then read the texts and subjectively rate the fonts they were written in. The participants were informed to read the texts carefully because the counter was on during the reading. The analysis of the results showed that the fonts of the generic family serif are the most readable according to subjective opinion and that they are second in terms of the time required to read the texts. We can conclude that fonts from the serif family have the highest level of readability in web environments. Also, the fonts of the fantasy generic family received the lowest ratings in terms of the subjective opinion of the participants and took the third place in terms of the time required to read texts written in these fonts, and we can conclude that they have the lowest level of readability of web content. It is important to note that participants who find reading from a screen more readable compared to reading from paper, on average, rate decorative fonts, such as cursive and fantasy styles, significantly more readable compared to participants who prefer reading from paper.
