Abstract
Zadatak ovog rada je sustavno i analitički istražiti smjernice budućeg razvoja IEEE 802.11 skupine standarda, te analizirati nove predložene podvarijante standarda. Prije svega, dan je uvid u povijest razvoja IEEE 802.11 standarda. Nadalje, posebno su obrađene teme novih Wi-Fi tehnologija u pogledu njihovih prednosti, kao što su poboljšanje propusnosti, povećanje dometa i jednostavnost korištenja. U svakoj smjernici daljnjeg razvoja analizirane su nove predložene podvarijante standarda, kao i one koje su još u razvojnoj fazi. Za svaki standard opisani su glavni ciljevi i nove značajke koje donose. Također, napravljena je usporedba obrađenih IEEE 802.11 standarda. Posebno je obrađena tema energetske učinkovitosti Wi-Fi-ja, s naglaskom na utjecaj proširenja širine kanala na energetsku učinkovitost. Naposljetku, obrađena je tema koegzistencije LTE i Wi-Fi mreža kao i izazovi s kojima se te dvije tehnologije susreću prilikom rada u istom frekvencijskom pojasu.
Abstract (english)
The problem of this paper is to explore guidelines of the future development of the IEEE 802.11 standards, systematically and analytically. First of all, there is a part about the history of development of the IEEE 802.11 standards. Furthermore, Wi-Fi technologies are processed in the terms of throughput enhancement, long-range extensions and the greater ease of use. In every guideline of the future development new versions are analyzed, but also the upcoming ones. For every standard the main goals and new features are described. There is a compare of the IEEE 802.11 standards that are processed. Also, power efficiency of the Wi-Fi was highlighted, but the impact of increased bandwith on power efficiency is specially emphasised. Finally, a topic about the coexistence of the LTE and Wi-Fi networks is processed, so as the challenges that appear while working in the same frequency band
