Abstract
Zemljino magnetsko polje je kompleksna prirodna pojava koja je još uvijek predmetom istraživanja, od geodinama kao njegovog osnovnog generatora do niza čimbenika koji doprinose konačnom izgledu geomagnetskog polja. U ovom završnom radu dan je kratak opis Zemljinog magnetskog polja, objašnjeno je kako se ono prikazuje u terestrijalnim geomagnetskim opservatorijima, što je i primjerom ilustrirano magnetogramima dobivenim u magnetskom opservatoriju Lonjsko Polje. Kvalitativno je opisan nastanak geomagnetskih oluja te je prikazan dio trenutnog pionirskog znanja o utjecaju Zemljinog magnetskog polja na biosferu.
Abstract (english)
Earth's magnetic field is a complex phenomenon which is subject of scientific research: The geodynamo as the most important source of the magnetic field as well as other sources which contribute to the Earth's magnetic field. In this undergraduate thesis a brief description of Earth's magnetic field is given, description of how the geomagnetic field is measured in geomagnetic observatories, which is further illustrated with magnetograms from the Croatian geomagnetic observatory Lonjsko polje. A description of the origin of geomagnetic storms is also given along with a summary of the current pioneering knowledge of the effect the Earth's magnetic field on the biosphere.
