Abstract
U ovom završnom radu cilj je bio opisati povijest otkriće same radioaktivnosti te se usmjeriti na ionizirajuće zračenje i njegovu podjelu na alfa, beta i gama zračenje. Objašnjene su mjerne jedinice kao i mjerni instrumenti ionizirajućeg zračenja. Poseban naglasak je na štetnim učincima ionizirajućeg zračenja koji mogu dovesti do ozbiljnih zdravstvenih posljedica. Unatoč potencijalnoj štetnosti, ionizirajuće zračenje ima mnoge korisne primjene u medicini, industriji i istraživanjima, poput radioterapije u liječenju raka, dijagnostike bolesti i sterilizacije materijala. Provedenim mjerenjem utvrđeni su iznosi zračenja nekih dostupnih radioaktivnih materijala te je zaključeno kako beta light emiter uzrokuje najveće zračenja u odnosu na prirodno pozadinsko zračenje.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this thesis was to describe the history of the discovery of radioactivity, with a focus on ionizing radiation and its division into alpha, beta, and gamma radiation. The units of measurement and measuring instruments for ionizing radiation were explained. Special emphasis was placed on the harmful effects of ionizing radiation, which can lead to serious health consequences. Despite its potential hazards, ionizing radiation has numerous beneficial applications in medicine, industry, and research, such as in cancer treatment through radiotherapy, disease diagnosis, and material sterilization. By conducting measurements, the levels of radiation from certain available radioactive materials were measured, and it was concluded that beta light emitters cause the highest radiation compared to natural background radiation.
