Abstract
Tvrdoća je ključno mehaničko svojstvo inženjerskih materijala o kojoj ovisi njihova primjena u različitim industrijama. Ispitivanjem tvrdoće može se procijeniti koliko materijal može izdržati opterećenje ili otpornost na trošenje pri određenim uvjetima kao i ispunjavaju li materijali propisane specifikacije i standarde. Poznavanje tvrdoće materijala osigurava trajnost, čvrstoću i sigurnost materijala i proizvoda te je neophodna za kontrolu kvalitete i unaprjeđivanje svojstva materijala. U radu su istraženi osnovni koncepti i metode ispitivanja tvrdoće, s posebnim naglaskom na tri najčešće korištene metode: Brinell, Vickers i Rockwell kao i važnost odabira odgovarajuće metode ispitivanja ovisno o vrsti materijala i njegovoj očekivanoj tvrdoći. Teoretski i eksperimentalno je obrađeno ispitivanje tvrdoće prijenosnim i stacionarnim tvrdomjerima. U prvom dijelu rada prikazan je pregled osnovnih pojmova i metoda mjerenja tvrdoće (Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell). U drugom dijelu provedeno je ispitivanje na sedam različitih metalnih materijala te su uspoređeni rezultati mjerenja.
Abstract (english)
Hardness is a crucial mechanical characteristic of engineering materials that determines their applicability in various industries. Hardness testing allows us to assess how much stress or wear resistance a material can withstand under specific conditions and whether the materials meet prescribed specifications and standards. Understanding the hardness of materials ensures their durability, strength, and safety, making it essential for quality control and material design improvement. This work explores fundamental concepts and methods of hardness testing, with a particular emphasis on the three most commonly used techniques: Brinell, Vickers, and Rockwell. It also highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate testing method depending on the type of material and its expected hardness. Theoretical and experimental aspects of hardness testing using both portable and stationary hardness testers are addressed. The first part of the work provides an overview of basic terms and measurement methods for hardness (Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell). In the second part, testing is conducted on seven different metallic materials, and the measurement results are compared.
